About Us

The Institute for Media and Social Dynamics exists to benefit the community by advancing public understanding of media and its impact on society, promoting social justice, freedom of expression, human rights, academic freedom, and ethical media practices through research, education, and public engagement.

The Institute for Media and Social Dynamics aims to work for the benefit of the community by advancing understanding of media, communication, and their impact on society, with a particular focus on social justice, humanity, freedom of expression, human rights, academic freedom, and democratic values.

The objects of the Company are to carry on activities for the benefit of the community and not for private advantage, in particular but not exclusively:

1.     To advance public understanding of media and communication and their impact on society, politics, culture, and democratic life.

2.     To promote social justice and humanity by examining, researching, and addressing how media representations affect marginalised, vulnerable, and under-represented groups.

3.     To support and promote freedom of expression and freedom of speech, within the framework of the law, through research, analysis, education, and public discussion on media ethics, journalism, censorship, and digital communication.

4.     To advance awareness and understanding of human rights by analysing media coverage of conflict, inequality, discrimination, humanitarian crises, and social change, and by encouraging responsible and ethical media practices.

5.     To uphold and promote academic freedom and independent inquiry by providing an open, non-partisan platform for researchers, educators, journalists, students, and practitioners to publish, debate, and disseminate research and analysis.

6.     To research, analyse, and communicate the social impact of media, including traditional media, digital platforms, social media, and emerging communication technologies, and their influence on public opinion and social behaviour.

7.     To improve media literacy and critical thinking among the public through publications, reports, educational resources, training, seminars, workshops, and digital content.

8.     To encourage ethical journalism, accountability, and professional standards in media practice by fostering dialogue between academia, media professionals, civil society organisations, and the wider public.

9.     To collaborate with educational institutions, media organisations, civil society bodies, and community groups in furtherance of the above objects, provided that such collaboration supports community benefit.

10.  To undertake any lawful activities incidental or conducive to the attainment of the above objects, provided that all such activities are carried out in accordance with the community interest purpose of the Company.
